    Also known as McDowell Cemetery. (A small piece of land was bought from Dorcas McDowell for a new addition. She lived 100 yards from the cemetery.) Mordecai Dick [Dare] Miller came to Burrell Township in 1849 from Terre Haute, Indiana to establish a new community of Terre Haute. Terre Haute was never a large or successful settlement. He gave the land for the cemetery. (See #3-1) The story is that a Mr. West was the first burial, but there is no stone.
